Hexagonal Action

I've seen a number of different bolt action receiver profiles: round, hexagonal, octagonal, polygonal, and many more. Most of the actions I've done are round or octagonal, so I decided try something different (at least for me). Like the octagonal receivers, hexagonal receivers are (or would at least appear to be) self-centering, much like the V-block which is often used for bedding round actions. I'll post photos soon. The action will be part of a rifle with a similar shape. Any questions or suggestions are welcome.

3D Design at a Glance

I created this blog to showcase my work. I create 3D solid models using Autodesk Inventor. These models can be used for production in conjunction with proper equipment. The models I create are not only for my personal use, but for customers.

If you would like a model and/or drawings created, please do the following:

1) Post and/or e-mail me about your project

2) Send me an e-mail with drawings of what you want modeled

3) Agree to terms and conditions (I am drafting a terms and conditions sheet. Once complete, I will attach it as a reply to your e-mail.)

What I will do:

1) Once the drawings are received, I will review them and respond if I have any questions.

2) I will provide an estimate for the length of time I feel is necessary for completion.

3) The price for the work is based upon an hourly rate. I reserve the right to change this rate at any time.
4) Once the work is complete, I will send an e-mail with the actual amount of time spent on the project. I make every effort to stay within my estimate. The amount due will never exceed the high end of the estimate.

5) Once payment is received via PayPal, I will e-mail the deliverables (models, drawings, etc) within 24 hours (as to account for time changes and the like)

3D Modeling and my Life

I started using Autodesk Inventor in high school and have continued to do so in university. My 3D work expanded with my membership in GrabCAD, a forum and library for CAD models. This is where I gained the exposure which ultimately led to my first contract. While neither an engineer nor a gunsmith, firearms have always fascinated me, and as such, have become my subject of choice. I am continuing to learn everything I can on the subject, so any input is greatly appreciated.

My work here is secondary to my "job" as a chemistry student in university, which is why I can only provide hourly estimates.
